Made possible thanks to funding from Thames Freeport’s Skills Accelerator, ongoing collaboration between East London, London City and South Essex Colleges Group will provide a clear pathway to equip learners with the skills they need as the UK transitions to clean energy.
In contrast to previous years, when Hydrogen Safe has delivered training exclusively to engineering apprentices and college staff, this contract will extend the opportunity to businesses across sector.
As such, any individual within the South East of England can complete an expression of interest form to apply for the training, which will engage 150 learners and deliver industry recognised qualifications, courses and e-modules in hydrogen safety from September.
Having previously engaged with more than 192 learners, Hydrogen Safe and South Essex Colleges Group has seen how access to this training has leveraged opportunities for those involved through the enhanced skills that they gain on completion of the courses.
Specialist Training Instructor for Hydrogen Safe, Neil Minshall comments: “We are so pleased to have secured this contract for a third year. Having delivered more than 6,500 guided learning hours during the last agreement, we witnessed first-hand how those accessing the course content evolved.
“It was a real privilege to see them engage, understand and become more confident when it comes to working safely with and around hydrogen. We know that these skills will facilitate opportunities and career progression, and the fact that we can now extend this to those working in any sector makes it all the more exciting.”
Vice Group CEO and Innovation & Employer Engagement Lead for South Essex Colleges Group, Jayne Sheehan comments: “Securing the provision of this training for a third year is a real success story for South Essex Colleges Group, not least as these courses are fully funded thanks to Thames Freeport’s Skills Accelerator.
“As such, we would encourage any local employers, from any sector, to come forward and access the training. There are 150 course places available, and we want to make sure that we support as many learners as possible through this project.”
Whether employed, self-employed, or a student, individuals from the South East of England who would like to express their interest are invited to complete the relevant form below.
