As hydrogen moves from laboratory research to real-world deployment, safety is a prerequisite for progress. At HORIBA, this is addressed through a combination of precision measurement technologies, advanced testing solutions, and industry-led training partnerships.
Turning Data into Safe Decisions
Across the hydrogen value chain, accurate measurement is fundamental. HORIBA’s analytical technologies enable real-time monitoring of system behaviour, helping engineers and operators maintain safe operating conditions. Gas analysis plays a central role in this, from multi-component analysers such as the VA-5000 for continuous monitoring, to dedicated hydrogen analysers like HyEVO for precise measurement of hydrogen concentration and performance. In mobility applications, HORIBA’s wider emissions measurement platforms also support the development of hydrogen combustion technologies, providing critical safety insight.
From Theory to Practice: Building Hydrogen Safety Skills
Recognising that technology alone is not enough, HORIBA UK has partnered with Hydrogen Safe to deliver the course: “Fuel Cell Testing: HORIBA’s Safe Design Approach.” This programme combines theoretical learning with practical application, giving participants the skills and confidence to work safely with hydrogen systems. At its core is the HORIBA C05-LT fuel cell test station, enabling learners to see safe installation, operation, and testing in practice.
The C05-LT is a compact, next-generation fuel cell test platform designed for research and development. Built with safety at its core, it incorporates independent safety controls, automatic purging, and precise management of gas flow, pressure, and temperature. These features enable controlled, repeatable testing while reducing operational risk.
A Collaborative Approach to a Safe Hydrogen Future
HORIBA ’s approach reflects a broader shift from standalone products to integrated solutions. By combining measurement technologies, testing capability, and safety training, the company is helping organisations build both the systems and the skills required for hydrogen adoption.
Because in hydrogen, safety is not just about compliance, it is what enables progress.
