Hydrogen Safe Provide Free Online Event to Explore Opportunities for Women in Hydrogen

14 August 2026

Hydrogen Safe, the hydrogen safety consultancy and training provider, hosted a free online event on Thursday 13 August to explore the opportunities that the hydrogen sector could bring to women around the world.

As a delivery partner for the British Council-led Going Global Partnerships programme, funded by the International Skills Partnership (ISP), Hydrogen Safe will welcome Chief Executive of Hydrogen UK, Clare Jackson, and Country Director for the British Council, George Barrett as keynote speakers.

Bringing together stakeholders from industry, academia, and government, the interactive and empowering session will focus on how women locally and globally can access and benefit from emerging opportunities through targeted upskilling, collaboration, and professional networks.

Featuring a series of lightning talks from female leaders, followed by an interactive roundtable discussion, the topics covered will include shared challenges, practical collaboration, and strategies that address the gender gap in STEM, particularly in relation to knowledge, skills development and career pathways.

Director of Partnerships for Hydrogen Safe, Elizabeth Simon, comments: “As part of the work that we are doing with the British Council and the Going Global Partnerships programme, we wanted to put a spotlight on women in the hydrogen sector.

“We can see from predictions that hydrogen is going to be a strong growth driver for jobs, but we are also aware of the skills gap within the market. We want to make sure that women have access to the training they need so that they can make the most of the opportunities presented to them.

“This isn’t a UK challenge; gender misrepresentation is a global situation that we must address together. Working with our partners from Nkangala TVET college in South Africa we can all share our perspectives and experiences to drive the discussion and work on proposals that will deliver positive change.”
