Specialist instructor appointed to Manchester business to deliver UK’s first hydrogen qualifications

24 October 2023

Hydrogen Safe, the Manchester-based specialist training organisation delivering the UK’s first Ofqual registered hydrogen qualifications, has appointed George Hastie as a Training Instructor.

Previously working as a senior health and safety trainer and for Aramco at the National Industrial Training Institute in Saudi Arabia on oil and gas operations, George will use his transferable skills to work with students of all ages, whether they are looking to access careers in the green energy sector or to enhance their skills to be better equipped for the future.

Working with colleges, academies and training providers throughout the UK, including Hopwood Hall College and University Centre, the company is taking bookings to deliver its courses on site or through remote, real time digital sessions with cohorts of students.

Furthermore, it will be providing an immersive learning experience by incorporating extended reality (XR) and artificial intelligence into its training, along with classroom based learning and practical application.

CEO and Founder of Hydrogen Safe, Andy Lord, comments: “We are very pleased to welcome George to the team. Not only does he bring the relevant skills and experience we are looking for, but importantly the excitement and passion we want to deliver the UK’s first registered qualifications in hydrogen safety.

“The green energy sector holds huge opportunity for businesses across every sector and that is why we are giving colleges, academies and training providers the chance to add our courses to their syllabus.

“We want to ensure that workmen and women are competent and confident when it comes to working safely with hydrogen, so that we can all benefit from the opportunities that it presents, whatever the career they choose.”

George comments: “This is a great opportunity for me and already we are seeing the difference that the course makes to students. It’s not just about learning, it’s about recognising what can be achieved when we unlock the potential of the green energy sector.”

Members of Hydrogen UK, the Hydrogen Skills Alliance and Hydrogen Energy Association, Hydrogen Safe can work with businesses, education providers and individuals to deliver courses that suit the needs of an organisation and its employees.

“Let’s create a greener, more sustainable and safer world for everyone.”
